Ian & I both grew up with dogs of different breeds. Bull Terriers were my breed growing up in India. The occassional other being cocker,Labs and an Alsation. Ian, who's Mum had English&Irish Setter,Shetland Sheepdogs and eventually Staffords. I missed Having a dog, there in lies what was to be my one and only favourite dog.
My first Stafford was a present from my husband Ian. I took it over to Evelyn(my mother-in-law) and she thought he had beautiful conformation, and encouraged me to show, of which I knew nothing of. With her guidance, I started to train Randy(Staffshaven Bruno 'aka'Randy) and myself. Our first show was the Royal Melbourne Show. We won the puppy class, Evelyn said that I had no hope beating the puppy bitch which was also the CC bitch. On I went, up against the puppy Challenge bitch (who had beaten at least 20 bitches) for the right to be Puppy of Breed. Well, I went in a total amateur not knowing what the fuss was about, I ended beating her for Puppy in Breed.....suffice to say that from that day on I was hooked! That was 1989!
Here I am today, still doing what I love, my dogs, and breeding only ever for ourselves with the thought of continous improvement, and protecting this wonderful breed. Nothing fancy or mind blowing, just the simple things of a Stafford....steadfast,loyal and true! All our dogs now have been DNA tested for L2HGA & HC clear, PHPV clear too. Literature regarding these hereditary diseases further on this site. I believe we have a responsibility to make sure that our breed is free of diseases and enjoy a good healthy life as companions, as the saying goes 'PER SEMPRE'.
A new era starts for me, I am hoping to achieve my licence to judge, which is very exciting!
PER SEMPRE
FOR ALWAYS
